Essential Functions
We are seeking applicants for a Senior Scientist position to work with highly dimensional data, especially next-generation sequencing data (WES, WGS and RNA-seq), and quantitative traits. Position is responsible for collaborating with the Principal Investigator on the design, conduct and reporting of research projects.
1. Collaborates with PI on the design, conduct and reporting of research projects.
2. Assists with grant preparation and reporting.
3. Prepares and submits papers on research.
4. Develops hypotheses to be tested and experimental methods.
5. To write and optimize analyses pipelines (scripts) for WES, WGS and RNA-seq.
6. Analyze data including QC, as well as perform analyses.
7. Manages research project with other institutions and investigators.
8. Complies with established safety procedures and maintaining required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
Required Qualifications
Requires PhD, M.D. or equivalent terminal degree and at least 3 years of postdoctoral experience.
Preferred Qualifications
* PhD in statistics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, Statistical Genetics, Medical Statistics, Mathematics or similar.
* The candidate should have a strong background in second-generation sequencing analyses (DNA and RNA), GWAS analyses (PLINK and SKAT-O), and multivariate and mixed model analyses.
* A working knowledge of UNIX, Perl/Python and R.
* Analytical reasoning and problem solving skills.
* Demonstrated working knowledge of standard laboratory policies, procedures and equipment.
* Ability to communicate in oral and written form with all levels of personnel and technical publications.
* Able to work well independently or as a team member.
Salary Range
The hiring range for this position is $49,471 - $66,787 annually.
